I have a few things i'm in need of help/ advice on.
#1: On Wednesday night I need to have some type of chrismas story for mutual. Preferably something that a small item could be given to go along with it. (such as story of the christmas orange.) I've thought about the story of the three trees but couldn't find it to buy anywhere and it's been so long since i've read it I don't even know what I would do to go along with it... If you have any ideas,Please share them with me. I have a few ideas but wanted to hear what others could come up with.
#2: My little Connor has been quite difficult recently. about a month ago he started to only take one nap a day which was expected but since we've taken his bottles away he will only take a 1 hour nap each day. each night he sleeps from 8 pm-6or7 am and is very grouchy when he wakes up and for most of the day. Having frequent melt down.. etc. I've tried putting him to bed later but no matter what time he goes to sleep his eyes are wide awake at 6 or 7 am. Does he sound like he's getting enough sleep?
Since he's only doing 1 short nap each day i've been trying to exercise while he eats breakfast so I can get my house clean while he naps. the second he's done eating breakfast he's just screaming at me, trying to climb my legs and make me stop exercising. If I ignore him he goes over and does something naughty like pulling the outlet covers out so I have to stop exercising. Thus achieving my attention even though it's negative attention. Me trying to make dinner is the same type of situation. If I try to get him busy in his high chair with a snack or coloring He starts screaming.... Am I just describing a typical one year old or does it seem like there's something else going on here? If I have to I can start getting up at 5 am to exercise but that doesn't sound too appealing. Any advice at all would be very appreciated!

Hi Ashley, We must be doing the same things in YW's. We are doing stories and ornaments for this coming Sunday. When do you have to have them done? I have the book and was also given three trees on a string that are made of wood. I think my friend Jan put them together. I think you may be able to find small wood trees at Michaels, but it could get a bit costly. Let me know if you want to see them, I could take a picture and email it to you. I made my ornament this year from gold/silver glass balls(Walmart) and ribbons etc (glue gun). I drew a music note on each one to go along with singing Christmas hymns. It was pretty easy and inexpensive.
Thanks so much! I need to have them done by wednesday night. I really like your christmas hymn Idea! I may steal it! :o)
As for our little Connor, It sounds like he is just a little ahead of his time. He sounds like 18mo not 12mo. He is learning really fast how to get what he wants, the little cute bugger. He does though sound like he is still needing more sleep. It could be just his adjustment time due to no bottle. It should get back to normal, what ever that means, after a month or so. They get pretty attached to the bottle. I wish you load of luck. They are all so different, so what works here for him, you may not get to use on the next one. They keep you on your toes for sure. We will seeing you all soon. Love ya!
Ash, scary about Connor choking. You know what to do! The sleep/nap/control thing sounds exactly like my girls (and you wonder why we're stopping at 2), and I'm told by your mom that they get it from Nate.
Exercise is important, but at this stage, I just quit for 4-5 months so I could focus on my little ones. Maybe you could do sit-ups and stuff on the floor with him next to you, and save the rest for later on when he's not as demanding for attention.
HUGS!
I have the story of the three trees, I could email it to you. My mom gave us each a little set of wood trees but it might be hard to have have them cut and painted by Wednesday. I will think and then give you a call. Also, Connor is normal. Kaden is having the same problem except he is phasing into NO NAP, but then he is just plain grumpy. I don't know what the answer is, but if you find a magical fix share the news! I am so impressed that you are exercising, I should be more like you! (in more than 1 way)
We are having a similiar situation with Maddy, I think it must be their ages, and I know when we took her bottle away, she was a differant child, but she has SLOWLY started back to taking longer naps... when she wakes up in the mornings if she isn't upset, I just let her lay there, maybe try that with Connor for a little while, and see if he will put himself back to sleep, unless he is crying... I wish I knew how to help you, but if we come up with something that works with her, I will be sure to let you know... She is also doing the mommy attention thing, where she wants my undivided attention all day, its frustrating sometimes, because you can't get done what needs to get done, I do however get a 1/2 hour with dora, I am NOT a TV advicate for little ones, but whatever keeps your sanity for a little bit?? I hope it helps a little bit??
